The things they say….

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Apparently Camdenisms are a favorite in the Matthews household and might be remembered long enough to be a dreaded wedding toast… The poor kid was just trying to potty train, but they were around for gems such as, “brown pee pee” and “one two browns” and just this past weekend he sprang from the pool very urgently claiming that he needs to go “pee poo” - a new favorite. Is it time to remind Hannah how proud she was when she was around 5 and she was so so so proud of herself for being able to spell, “hot poop” (pretty sure I blogged that one way back when.) Kids are just too funny.

Another funny from Camden… Yesterday afternoon I was out running errands which turned into going to dinner with Brittani, followed by some more errands. I got home after Parker started getting a little fussy and was ready for bed. I was at Trader Joes and brought home a peace offering for Brian, Chocolate Orange Sticks - his favorite. Camden asked me what they were and I said they were for daddy. I took Parker up to bed and Camden brought them to daddy who said, “mommy’s evil” meaning mommy IS evil. Camden replied, “no, daddy’s evil”  meaning the evil belongs to daddy. Apparently chocoalte orange sticks are now called “evil”. tee hee.

We had a fun morning today. We went to Hot Java for muffins for breakfast and then went to Highland Ranch park to play.

Here’s Camden climbing the “spider web”

Bad hair day…. then a haircut!

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Parker had a seriously bad hair day today!

So…. we decided it was time for his first haircut! We just took him to Fantastic Sams where daddy gets his hair cut. The girl was super fast. Parker was not a fan, but it was over fast enough, so it was not too traumatic.

9 months

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

It’s hard to believe that Parker is 9 months old already! The time goes by so fast. He had his 9 month check up on Monday and it was a little more eventful than I would have preferred. It started out well enough. He was being cute and curious for the nurse and doctor and they thought he was just great. The pedi looked in his left ear and asked if he’d had a cold recently. yup. Well, it wasn’t infected but had a little fluid so we just needed to keep an eye on it. Then she moved on to the right ear - that one was infected. He didnt’ have a fever and it didn’t seem to be bothering him but because he’s so young she wanted to go ahead and treat with antibiotics. I’m good with that. Then she tries to check his hips and they won’t budge, she can’t rotate them at all. Obviously she doesn’t want to use so much force that she hurts him. She’s never had concern for his hips before but wants to be cautious so she sends him for a hip x-ray. A toe pick to checck for iron and two shots and we were off to the imaging lab for the x-ray. He did so good, and layed there nice and still while mommy held his legs in a frog position. We got a call a couple of hours later that everything was just fine. He was just being a big stinker and didn’t want his hips rotated. When I’m feeling less lazy and get out to the car to find his stats sheet, I’ll update with height and weight, etc. His head was off the charts. The nurse measured twice :)

While we were at the pedi I asked her about an inhaler for Camden. Last week (while getting over a cold) he had a couple of coughing spells that worried me a little bit. He’s had this before but I’ve always been able to sit him down to read a book or play quietly and he settles right down. It’s a lot harder to get him to sit down now, especially in the middle of a party! At the end of each cough was an awful whistling sound that I had not heard before. So, now we have an emergency inhaler for him, just in case!

Both boys have to go back in a month to get checked. Fun (especially since Camden screamed at her last time he was there… not a fan.)

Camden’s measurements

Mommy’s hand measures “ten” and Parker’s head measures “ten dollars” Gotta love it!
